Grant Review Process

The power of your gift is magnified through United Way of Northwest Michigan's grant making process.

Community volunteers make the grant decisions. More than 30 community citizens serve on United Way's Citizen Action Teams, which we refer to as "CATs."

These community citizen volunteers receive training and orientation. After carefully reviewing applications, they meet to interview applicants and score their proposals. They conscientiously and thoroughly discuss how to get the best results for the most local people in the most cost effective ways possible.
